A nine pound hammer or a woman like you

June 8th, 2010 § 8

{UPDATE: This look was featured on Weardrobe!}

So folks, I have found another addition to add to my campaign to bring back the bolo.

I guess I’ll need a clever name for this campaign.

And I suppose I should just go ahead and keep my glasses on.

Seeing as how taking them off somehow gave me the sourpuss face of the century.

I’d also like to say thank you to Motha Nature for this cool, gray day.

Love a day like this.

Right? Look at that anger.

{I wasn’t angry!}

And don’t get me wrong: my bolo campaign doesn’t mean I’m going to wear every bolo I find at the same time.

But two? Yeah.

These guys are on etsy right now.

For some reason though, they are $45?!

Fact: Lady & the Tramp is my favorite Disney Movie.

Ever.

Now that was a truly enjoyable weekend good sirs.

Flea Market/thrifting/greasy spoon-ing with mah pops, People’s Fair/Turkey Legs/Corn/Lemonade/Fruit Kebobs with mah man.

And that was only Saturday.

Then more sailing of the garages on Sunday, Brunch at the Merc, and all sorts of other goodness.

We didn’t get a hammock like we wanted, but we will.

Oh, we will.

But it’ll be up here where I stand and oh, can it get windy.

Oh, can it.

So we need the heaviest piece of swinging canvas you’ve done ever seen.

Or have you?

Unfortunately this weekend did not bring about a working A/C unit in my car.

And we have a forecast that mentioned three digits.

I wanted to put a bathing suit in my car for the post-work commute but I forgot.

Eeee….

Maybe I’ll swing by the Dub G (Walgreens) for a spritzy fan.

Bottom Up:

Shoes: Payless

Shorts: Thrifted

Tee: Target

Belt: Thrifted

Hair: Out of control

Gotta give a holla where a holla is most certainly due.

My dear friend, DisarmingDarling was one of Chictopia’s June Style Icons!

She is goddamn amazing and is a self described,

baby that resulted from an orgy of a crystal prism, the beach, a dream catcher, a grunge hippie, a threaded beaded friendship bracelet, a yard of vintage flower fabric, a tall skinny tree, a pair of chocolate brown suede lace-up boots, a string of glowing Christmas lights, a purple Otter Pop, and grandma’s old couch.”

AND THEN she was on the front page of Chictopia this morning!

I don’t know how to give a standing ovation online, but if I did, I most certainly would.

Let’s hear it for DisarmingDarling who, might I add also has one of the best etsy shops this side of the Mississip.

{UPDATE: This look was featured on Weardrobe! Yay, thank you!}

My hair has gotten way too long to keep pretending that it’s short.

Time to embrace the mane.

Because don’t get me wrong: I totally do. I love my hair.

I just don’t love dealing with it, or picking it out of the drain and off of my clothes.

But I think I’ll rock it for a while before I cut it.

You know, embrace my inner, blonde John Oates.

Because don’t be fooled.

My hair still thinks its wet here.

So literally, by the end of the day it has tripled in size.

Kind of like the Grinch’s heart.

I’ll try to remember to take a photo at the end of the day for you.

Bu there is a Happy Hour in my future, so don’t hold it against me if I forget.

Who knows, maybe you’ll get REALLY lucky and I’ll take a picture of it first thing in the morning.

Yahright.

What a day for a day dress

June 3rd, 2010 § 5

I think this may be the most perfect picnic dress in the history of Summers.

Unfortunately, just a tad too big for me.

But again, feel free to buy it and send me a picture of yourself in it.

Because I totally won’t be gluing my face over yours and daydreaming that it is me in the dress.

Le sigh.

{And as always, thanks to the wonders of the world wide web, you can click any image to be immediately escorted to the store from whence it came}

{UPDATE: This look was featured on Weardrobe! Shazaam!}

Such a strange morning.

It looked like the crack of dawn until about 9:30.

Interesting.

I’m pretty excited to be debuting my wolf shirt that I got at Urban on Clearance this weekend.

Nothing like wearing a wolf shirt, a bolo, and power shoulders to make one not feel like a white trash cowboy ca. 1986

Look at those piercing wolf eyes!

{this is why the photos aren’t treated today- it would have totally negated any wolf shirt wearing points}

Bottom Up:

Shoes: Seychelles

jeans: ?

Wolf Shirt: Urban

Bolo: Thrifted

Hair: Born with it
